Day 1:

Our guide will meet you at Costa Rica’s Juan Santamaria Airport and take you to a boutique hotel in San Jose, where you can rest for the coming adventure. Hotel: Grano de Oro, or similar.

Day 2:

We’ll take you to the airport early this morning for a spectacular flight over mountains and the sea to Puerto Jimenez, on the Osa Peninsula, in Costa Rica’s southwest corner. From there, it’s a short drive to the award winning Eco lodge of Lapa Rios, spread across a forested ridge overlooking the Pacific Ocean. The lodge’s 930-acre nature reserve is home to more than 300 birds species, and you may spot toucans, scarlet macaws, squirrel monkeys and other wildlife from your room, the pool area or the restaurant. Lapa Rios offers constant exposure to nature, with knowledgeable guides to teach you about the surrounding biodiversity.

Day 3:

At Lapa Rios, you will be in close contact with nature from the moment you awaken to the songs and squawks of birds till the moment you doze off to the soft chirping of tree frogs. The airy bungalows are cooled by ocean breezes, which often carry the aroma of jungle blossoms. The restaurant serves a tasty selection of tropical fruit drinks and massages are given in a room with a rain forest view. It’s the perfect place to relax and unwind, but Lapa Rios also offers more than a dozen options for exploring the surrounding jungle and sea. Choose from various hikes in the hotel’s nature reserve or optional tours (not included in the price) including tours of the nearby Golfo Dulce, or horseback riding on a pristine beach, among other tours.

Day 4 and 5:

Lapa Rios has more than enough options to keep you busy today. An early morning bird watching tour is highly recommended, and you may want to hike deeper into the forest to a small waterfall . Other options include learning about local medicinal plants, eating lunch in the rain forest, checking out the tidal pools on nearby Matapalo Point, or exploring the forest at night.

Our driver will meet you at the airport to take you to the jaw-dropping Pacuare River. Views of the mountains covered by dense jungle couldn’t be more dramatic! The adventure continues as you leave the four-wheel-drive vehicle and cross the river on a hanging gondola that carries you above the river via a 100 meter cable running from riverbank to riverbank. You’ll reach the award winning secluded Pacuare Lodge, where you’ll settle into your spacious suite and enjoy a sumptuous lunch by the river. In the evening, its candle light, tree-frog serenades and delectable dining at the Nairi Awari Restaurant.

Day 7:

Enjoy breakfast in the privacy of your bungalow before embarking on a new adventure. Ascend to the treetops and enjoy a parrot’s-eye view of the rain forest while gliding along on Pacuare´s Canopy Adventure. You’ll be back at the lodge in time for lunch, after which you can relax or get a massage before another delicious candlelight dinner.

Day 8:

After another intimate breakfast, take a short hike to a waterfall in our private forest reserve. The lodge employs a resident naturalist guide who will provide you with unique insights into the plant and animal world.
